Bearing Fruit ( & Link Up)

I snip, I clip, I gather the beautiful blossoms off my hydrangea bush. This is an annual fall activity here at my Northwest home.

Time for change.

Looking down at my basket bursting with the fresh cut blossoms, I can’t help but stand in awe of God and his handiwork. The way each individual blossom is transforming in color at different stages, making for multiple hues of blues, pinks and purples.

It is breathtaking.

I motion my little boys over and point out the phases of transitioning colors that the hydrangea blooms go through in order to mature. A perfect lesson of the Savior’s keen eye for details and His perfect plan for our lives.

We must transition.

We carry the fluffy bunches of color into the house placing them in various vases and containers to preserve and dry. The pops of color everywhere are stunning.

We display beauty.

When I prune back these blossoms, I am reminded of my life with Christ being much the same as this woody stalked hydrangea bush.

We need pruning.

It is when we are shaped and gathered up by the Master Gardener that we can truly be beautiful. Our Heavenly Father then places us in the proper vessel, and offers us a place of honor in His presence.

We display His glory.

It is in the pruning and shaping that new seasons can come. We can embrace the changes and extend deep roots, bringing new growth every day.

Seasons of change must come.

I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. John 15: 1-2

What about you?

Are you facing a change of season?

Needing God to prune things in your life?

As we start this autumn season, it is a great time to look inward to the heart so we can once again bear fruit.
